Who will be performing the procedure?
Dr. Ronan Conlon
Dr. Conlon underwent additional training in neuromodulator injections under the guidance of leading experts in both the United Kingdom and Canada. He is dedicated to staying at the forefront of the latest techniques and research in the field, in order to provide his patients with the safest and most effective treatments possible.
Cosmetics
As we age, wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions naturally begin to emerge in the face. Neuromodulators work by temporarily relaxing and reducing the contraction of these muscles, resulting in a revitalized and smoother appearance.
The effects of the treatment are typically seen within days and usually last 3-4 months.

Frown lines (Glabella)
The area between the eyebrows is often referred to as the glabellar region. It is the muscles in this area that are responsible for producing the vertical “eleven” lines that are commonly seen between the eyebrows. The “elevens” are one of the most frequently requested aesthetic treatments. Proper placement of neuromodulators in this area reduces the downward pull of the muscle, resulting in a reduction of vertical lines and a more youthful appearance.
Forehead
Horizontal forehead lines are the second most commonly requested treatment area and are produced by contraction of the forehead muscle (frontalis muscle). Placement of a neuromodulator can soften these lines, resulting in a smoother more refreshed appearance.
Nose (“Bunny Lines”)
Bunny lines are lines that appear on the bridge of the nose. While bunny lines can naturally occur with age and are appealing to some, others may disagree. If you fall into the latter category, you may want to consider treatment with neuromodulators, which can significantly reduce and soften these lines.
Mouth (“Gummy Smile”)
A gummy smile is a smile characterized by the excessive display of gum tissue above the top teeth. Those with a gummy smile may feel self-conscious about their smile. Fortunately, neuromodulators can help by limiting movement of the upper lip, which results in a reduction of upper gum tissue display while smiling
Crow’s feet
Another commonly injected area is around the edge of the eyes, known as “crows” feet. The repetitive contraction of the lateral eye musculature causes a starburst pattern appearance and placement of a neuromodulator in this area can result in a more “open eyed,” brighter appearance.
Neck
The platysma is a large, sheet-like muscle covering the front of the neck. Usage of the platysma muscle can result in the formation of neck lines over time – both horizontal and vertical. Treatment with neuromodulators can significantly reduce and soften these lines.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are neuromodulators?
A neuromodulator is a naturally purified protein that is extracted from bacteria. It works by temporarily blocking the nerve impulses that cause the muscles to contract. It is the repetitive contraction of muscles of facial expression that cause wrinkles to emerge. Neuromodulators work by temporarily reducing the contraction of these muscles, thus resulting in a softening of these lines.
Who will be performing my injection?
All injections and aftercare is provided by Dr. Ronan Conlon.
What does the treatment involve?
Typically, treatment lasts up to 30 minutes and involve multiple tiny injections into the muscle being treated. Most people return to work right after their treatment, although it is important to note you may encounter some slight bruising and swelling.
Does the injection hurt?
Typically, the injections are well tolerated and virtually painless, although the amount of discomfort varies from person to person. Most people would say the injections have less feeling than a mosquito bite.
How long do neuromodulators last?
The effect of neuromodulators are temporary and usually last between 3-4 months for aesthetic uses, although this can vary depending on the individual. For therapeutic uses (e.g., jaw pain, chronic migraine, hyperhidrosis) the duration is typically longer and can last up to 6-12 months.
Are there any risks associated with neuromodulator injections?
There are minimal risks associated with neuromodulator injections. Common side effects include bruising, swelling, tenderness around the injection site and a mild headache for 24 hours post-injection.
What kind of follow-up will I receive post-injection?
A follow up appointment will be made for you 2 weeks post-injection with Dr. Conlon. Additional units can be added at that time if required.
What is the cost of the initial consultation?
The initial consultation is free. Treatment can be performed that same day in most cases if wanted.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed for either therapeutic (TMD/jaw pain, underarm sweating, migraine) or aesthetic neuromodulator injections. Simply call or book online to schedule an appointment.

Dr. Ronan Conlon
During his medical training in Ireland, Dr. Conlon recognized the crucial role of confidence in a patient’s overall health and well-being. This inspired him to pursue further training in facial aesthetics and work in aesthetic clinics throughout Ireland. He also had the opportunity to undergo training under Dr. Warren Roberts, a world-renowned figure in facial aesthetics, at the Pacific Training Institute for Facial Aesthetic and Therapeutics (PTIFA) academy in British Columbia.
Aside from offering aesthetic and therapeutic neuromodulator injections, Dr. Conlon manages a busy full-scope family medicine practice. He is a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and is in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
